A highly experienced operational and transformational business leader, operating at the C-suite level, Stephen has been at the vanguard of delivering legal market change, and is internationally recognised as a leading market expert and innovator.
Possessing excellent business and operational management skills, Stephen is highly competent at dealing with financial and commercial matters, and has proven leadership capabilities.
Stephen has worked in legal services for over 25 years. Additionally, he spent four years at the helm of a France Télécom company.
He helped create Clifford Chance’s first ‘paralegal’ capability, supporting the firm’s corporate and finance practices. At Hogan Lovells Stephen built an alternative delivery and innovation capability of 400 people strong, and launched complementary businesses in financial services consulting and technology.
Stephen was Vice President of Get Sh*t Done at Elevate, where he worked with customers to define their ‘jobs to be done’. He designed market-leading solutions that ensured Elevate solved business-of-law problems faced by law departments and law firms today and in future. His work included directing the integration of consulting, technology, and service offerings at an enterprise level, bringing the best of Elevate to opportunities that tomorrow’s market will present.
He joined Elevate in 2020 from Hogan Lovells, where he was responsible for innovation, data science, legal tech (AI, machine learning, automation), digitalisation, legal operations and disruption.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a lawyer both in private practice and in-house, subsequently becoming managing director of two divisions of Orange-France Télécom in the UK and continental Europe.

Paul is a vastly experienced strategic communications professional, with a track record leading reputation for international and global companies.
His expertise and sure-footed judgement has been accumulated over 25 years leading communications for companies, often as part of the executive leadership, at all stages of their growth and change, engaging with employees as well as stakeholders in government, media, investor communities, citizens, unions, business partners and customers.
Paul is commercially and financially astute, having led corporate communications and investor relations for FTSE100 and 250 companies. He is highly skilled at creating company narratives and delivering, with flair, the context and stories which bring to life strategic change and business transformation.
Most recently, as interim Director of Communications and a member of the executive leadership team at BDR Thermea UK & Ireland, part of a global consumer and commercial heating provider, he delivered a comprehensive internal communications programme to support the company’s new multi-year business strategy, sustainability commitments and organisational change. Prior to this, for five years Paul led Hitachi Rail’s global communications, which included transforming employee engagement and aligning 14,000 colleagues across 30 countries to new business and strategy goals, culture and values.
His previous roles have included leading communications and investor relations at HMV Group PLC, Freeserve PLC (Orange), the Monarch Group, SEGRO PLC and a Partner in a London-based international strategic communications consultancy. He began his career as journalist, editor and publisher specialising in global media industries at Financial Times Business.
Paul has an MA in Communications Policy from City, University of London.
